By Jeff Lock
London Overground was created in 2007 when Transport for London began the process of taking over underused railway lines in order to create better rail links between central London and the other zones of the London rail network. The success of the project is reflected in the number of passenger journeys on the Overground, which is currently over 3 million a week.
This book contains walks starting from 22 of those stations. They offer the chance to explore some delightful areas in north, south, west, east and central London on foot. Highlights include:
• Woods and lakes in Epping Forest
• Turkey Brook and New River
• Ancient and modern in the City of London
• Views from Parliament Hill, Primrose Hill and One Tree Hill
• The Olympic Park and Lee Navigation
• The University Boat Race route
• The dinosaurs of Crystal Palace
• London parks and country estates
Jeff Lock is a London-based walk leader and this is his third book of walks in the London area.
