The Southern’s slam door electric trains were a familiar sight for decades, and gave  excellent service to generations of travellers. A multiplicity of designs operated, including humble 2-car suburban units, the world famous Brighton Belle and the extremely powerful 4 Rep units that worked on the Bournemouth line.
